Lorelai: hey there.
Luke: well hello to you.
Lorelai: I didn’t get my good morning kiss.
Luke: oh I’m terribly sorry.
Luke and Lorelai kiss. Luke chuckles.
Lorelai: you find that funny?
Luke: no not at all.
Lorelai: well then why did you laugh?
Luke: no reason.
Lorelai: oh I’m sure.
Lorelai smiles.
Luke: well if I can’t laugh, then I don’t think it is fair that you get to smile.
Lorelai: I never said that you couldn’t laugh, I was just wondering why.
Luke: oh I’m the sure that is the reason.
Lorelai sighs.
Luke: what?
Lorelai: I just wish…….
Luke: what?
Lorelai: I mean…….never mind…….it’s silly.

35 Years Earlier (4-6 years old):
Emily: come along Lorelai.
Lorelai: coming momma.
Lorelai runs up and grabs Emily’s hand. Emily leads them out of the house. A man in black opens the door to the car. Lorelai jumps in.
Emily: that was not very lady like Lorelai.
Lorelai: sorry.
Emily: it’s quite alright just lets not let it happen again, shall we?
Lorelai: we shall.
Emily: thank you.
Bean: where to mam’?
Emily: the playground please Bean, Lorelai has a play date, with a young man named Christopher Hayden.
Bean: you do, do you?
Lorelai: yes I do.
Bean: well aren’t you lucky.
They drive off.

Liz: I got your hat.
Luke: give it back Liz.
Liz: I don’t think so big brother.
Luke: I’m going to hit you
Liz: I don’t care.
Ben: give him his hat back Liz.
Liz: but dad?
Ben: Lizzie, you know that he’s going to hit you, and then you cry.
Liz: fine.
Liz throws the hat at Luke.

Luke laughs.
Ben: are you kids ready to go to the playground?
Luke: YEAH LETS GO!!
Liz: Okay, I’ll go tell mom bye.
Ben: you go to Luke.
Liz and Luke open the door to the front and their mom (Mae) is sitting outside reading. Luke runs over and kisses her on the cheek and runs off.
Luke: bye mom.
Mae looks around startled.
Mae: where are you going?
Liz: were going to the playground.
Mae: which one?
Liz runs after Luke. Ben comes out from the front door.
Mae: which playground are you going to?
Ben: the one in Hartford.
Mae: good, I don’t want the kids going to the one is Stars Hollow, until they haven’t seen any snakes.
Ben: me too. You want to come?
Mae: no, I’ll stay here, and keep a n eye on the place.
Ben: alright, we’ll see you when we get back.
Mae: okay no hurry.
Ben and Mae kiss.
Luke: ewww……..GROSS!!!
Liz: shush Luke it’s true love.
Luke: it’s still gross.
Liz: boys……..

Bean opens up the door for Emily. Emily steps out and grabs Lorelai’s hand.
Emily: okay lets go play.
Lorelai takes off running.
Emily: Lorelai come back here! Lorelai Gilmore, come back this instance!!
Lorelai stops by a tree. Emily catches up to her.
Emily: that is not lady like, lady’s never run.
Lorelai: sorry.
Emily: lets go find Christopher.
Emily and Lorelai set off to find Christopher.

Liz: I’m going to beat you to the swings.
Luke: no your not.
Luke and Liz run off to the swing-set.
Luke: beat you!!
Liz: whatever.
Liz gets on the swings. Luke goes over to the monkey bars.

Lorelai: I don’t see him anywhere momma.
Emily puts her hand over her eyes and scans the play ground. Christopher is not there yet.
Emily: well I don’t see him either.
Lorelai: can I go play, until he does get here?
Emily sighs and shakes her head yes.
Lorelai: thank you momma.
Lorelai runs off to the monkey bars.

Lorelai starts to do the monkey bars and falls. Luke runs over.
Luke: are you okay?
Lorelai looks at her dress and sees that it is okay. Then she looks at her arm and sees that it is bleeding. She starts to cry.
Luke: does it hurt?
Lorelai: no.
Luke: then why are you crying?
Lorelai: cause it’s the color red, and I HATE the color red, and my mommy will be mad.
Luke laughs.
Luke: I bet my dad has a band-aid.
Lorelai: really?
Luke: yeah, lets go see.
Luke helps Lorelai up and takes her over to his dad.
Luke: hey dad, this is……..
Luke turns to Lorelai.
Luke: what’s your name?
Lorelai: it’s Lorelai. Lorelai Gilmore.
Luke turns back to his dad.
Luke: dad, this is Lorelai. Lorelai Gilmore, and she fell and hurt her arm do you have band-aid?
Ben: actually I do.
Ben pulls a band-aid out of his back pocket, and puts it on Lorelai.
Lorelai: thank you.
Ben: no problem.
Luke and Lorelai go back to the monkey bars.
Lorelai: what’s your name?
Luke: it’s Luke.
Lorelai: don’t you have a last name?
Luke: yeah.
Lorelai: well….
Luke: oh I’m Luke Danes.
Lorelai: it’s nice to meet you Luke Danes.
Luke: nice to meet you too Lorelai Gilmore.
Lorelai starts to walk back to her mom.
Luke: hey Lorelai.
Lorelai turns around.
Lorelai: yes.
Luke: do you want to play?
Lorelai: I would love to.
Lorelai walks back over to Luke.

Luke and Lorelai are sitting under the jungle gym.
Emily: Christopher, it’s so nice to see you.
Christopher: it’s nice to see you too Mrs. Gilmore.
Emily smiles to Mrs. Hayden.
Mrs. Hayden: well Christopher, I got to go, but have fun with Mrs. Gilmore and Lorelai.
Christopher: yes mam’.
Mrs. Hayden: Thanks Emily you’re a life savor, sorry I’m so late, traffic.
Emily: no problem.
Mrs. Hayden walk back to her car.
Emily: well Christopher, Lorelai is under the jungle gym playing with that little boy.
Christopher: okay Mrs. Gilmore, thank you.
Christopher runs over to the jungle gym.
Christopher: Hey Lorelai.
Lorelai turns her head.
Lorelai: Oh Christopher, when did you get here?
Christopher: just a few minutes ago.
Lorelai: oh, well Christopher, this is Luke. Luke this is Christopher.
Christopher: nice to meet you Luke.
Luke: you too.
Christopher climbs in the jungle gym and sits next to Lorelai.
Christopher: what we’re you doing?
Lorelai: playing.
Christopher: playing what?
Lorelai: you ask a lot of questions.
Christopher: sorry.

Emily: LORELAI, IT’S TIME TO GO.
Lorelai and Christopher look at Emily.
Lorelai: that’s my mom.
Luke: oh okay.
Lorelai: thanks for playing with me though.
Luke: sure, it was fun.
Luke and Lorelai stand up, Christopher starts heading to Emily. He stops when he realizes Lorelai isn’t there and looks back at Luke. Lorelai looks at Christopher then at Luke, and kisses Luke. Christopher gasp.
Lorelai: thanks again.
Lorelai runs off to Christopher. Luke watches.

9 Years Later (15-17):
Lorelai and Christopher are walking around in the mall fighting.
Lorelai: you know what Chris?
Christopher: what now?
Lorelai: your really stuck up.
Christopher: oh I’m stuck up?
Lorelai: yes, you are.
Christopher: and how is that?
Lorelai: I don’t know, you just are.
Christopher: well that’s the stupidest thing you’ve come up with yet Lor.
Lorelai: thanks.
Lorelai turns in another direction, and starts walking off.
Christopher: come on Lor.
Lorelai: no.
Christopher: I’m your way home.
Lorelai: I know.
Christopher: and you don’t care?
Lorelai: nope.
Christopher: you want me to leave?
Lorelai: yep.
Christopher walks off. Lorelai turns around and Christopher is gone.

Lorelai goes into a store and is looking around. She decides that she’s done looking and starts to head out of the store, when she bumps into Luke.
Lorelai: oh my gosh, I’m so sorry.
Luke: don’t be, it’s my fault.
Lorelai looks up into Luke’s eyes.
Lorelai: do I know you?
Luke: I don’t know.
Lorelai: what’s your name?
Luke: Luke.
Lorelai: hmm…. It doesn’t ring a bell.
Luke: what’s yours?
Lorelai: Lorelai.
Luke: nope, not that I can remember.
Lorelai giggles. Luke looks around. Liz walks out of a store and comes over to Luke.
Liz: hey Luke, whose this?
Luke: Liz, Lorelai. Lorelai my annoying little sister Liz.
Lorelai: nice to meet you.
Liz: nice to meet you too.
Lorelai: are you guys from around here?
Liz: no, we’re from Stars Hollow.
Lorelai: oh okay.
Liz looks around.
Liz: your at the mall all alone?
Lorelai: well, I wasn’t but…..
Liz: but you are now, I have had that happen to me.
Lorelai: it sucks.
Liz: yeah, well we can give you ride.
Luke: we can?
Liz: yes we can.
Lorelai: oh no, you don’t have to do that.
Liz: don’t be silly, we want to.
Lorelai looks at Luke. Liz looks at Luke.
Luke: yes we do.
Lorelai: are you sure?
Luke: yes, I’m sure.
Liz, Luke, and Lorelai head out of the mall. They go to Luke’s pick-up.
Luke: hey, are you hungry?
Liz: starving.
Luke: I wasn’t asking you. Lorelai, are you hungry.
Lorelai looks down at her watch.
Lorelai: I have another hour before my mom will start to wonder where I am, so yeah I’m hungry.
Luke laughs.
Luke: good I know the perfect place.
Luke pulls into a drive in.
Liz: this is wear you want to eat? The drive in?
Luke: yeah, what’s bad about it?
Liz: well we sit in our car and eat.
Luke: that’s the good part.
Lorelai giggles. They order their food.

45 MINUTES LATER

Lorelai: that was good, I will have to eat here more often.
Luke: you’ve never eaten here before?
Lorelai: no, I didn’t even know what a drive in.
Luke and Liz laugh.
Luke: well I guess we better be getting you back.
Liz: you make it sound like we kidnapped her.
Lorelai laughs.
Lorelai: knowing my mother, she will make it come across that way too.
Luke signals over the waitress. The waitress comes over with the bill. Luke hands it to Liz.
Luke: here, you complained so you get to pay.
Liz: oh bull.
Luke: it’s true.
Liz: I don’t think so.
Liz and Luke continue to argue while Lorelai looks at the bill. She goes for her purse.
Luke: what do you think your doing?
Lorelai: who me?
Luke: no the waitress, yes you.
Lorelai: getting money.
Luke: why?
Lorelai: to pay for the bill.
Luke: are you crazy?
Lorelai: no, last time I checked I was fully sane.
Luke chuckles.
Luke: I have it.
Lorelai: yes, but you used your gas, to take us to eat, and take me home, so it’s the least I could do.
Luke: no it’s not.
Lorelai: I’m sure it is.
Luke: your very stubborn.
Lorelai: I know.
Luke: but your still not paying.
Lorelai: fine.
Lorelai puts her purse back. Liz begins to laugh.
Lorelai: what’s so funny?
Liz: nothing.
Lorelai: seriously, tell me.
Liz: it’s nothing, you wouldn’t find it as funny as I do.
Lorelai: I might.
Liz: okay, but you asked for it.
Lorelai: I know.
Liz: you guys are like a couple. I see it know you two getting married.
Lorelai looks at Liz, then at Luke.
Liz: you said you wanted to know.
Lorelai: I know, it’s funny.
Luke pays the waitress. Lorelai gives Luke directions to her house. Luke drives off. He pulls up to the house.
Liz: walk her to her door Luke.
Lorelai: I’m fine.
Liz: you know Lorelai, there could be cold blooded killers out there.
Lorelai: I don’t really think there is.
Liz: you never know.
Lorelai: fine.
Luke and Lorelai get out. Luke walks Lorelai to her door.
Lorelai: thanks for tonight, it was fun.
Luke: yeah, it was.
Luke and Lorelai stand awkwardly for a minutes. Lorelai starts to move closer. The door flies open.
Melinda: oh Lorelai, I’m sorry.
Lorelai looks at Melinda then at Luke.
Melinda: your mother said she heard something out here, I didn’t know it was you.
Lorelai: bye Luke, thank you.
Luke: bye.
Lorelai walks in. Melinda shuts the door.

Lorelai: so we have met each other.
Luke: I guess we have.
Lorelai: I knew we we’re meant to be.
Luke: really.
Lorelai: really.
Luke and Lorelai kiss.
Lorelai Voiceover: Life is short. We are reminded not to take ourselves too seriously. Some days we can just take a step to the side and let go laughing.
